Why you Need to Make your Coworking Space Sticky

Resource

If you want your coworking space to survive in the long run, you need to make sure your members stick around.

The thing that makes coworking spaces unique from leased offices is their short term contracts. Members are often on a 30-day rolling contract, and even if they’re in an office-like space, they’re probably still only working on a 3 month notice period.

This makes it very easy for your members to leave your space.

But you don’t want that.

You need them to want to stay for 6 months, or a year, or 2 years. And the only way you can ensure they want to stay around this long is if you make your space sticky.

Fancy chairs, standing desks, exposed ceilings and decent wifi are nice and they might help get people through the door, but they’re not enough to make someone want to stay long term. They can probably get the same kind of stuff from a serviced office.

You need to be focussing on your community; putting on great events, encouraging your members to network, inviting inspirational speakers, facilitating valuable connections, creating social events, offering a great work-play balance, providing investment opportunities, running workshops and masterclasses, the list goes on.

This is the stuff that your members can’t get from a serviced office. This is the stuff that will help your members to grow their business. This is the valuable part of their £200 a month tariff. This is what will make it very difficult for them to unsubscribe. This is what makes your workspace sticky.
