Back-end Developer

Coherent is a SaaS application which specializes in simplifying the task of flexible workspace management.  We have been trading for three years in the UK and are launching internationally in September. As part of that, we are expanding our team and establishing a presence in Munich.  We are post revenue, fully-funded by our founder and not dependent on external funding sources.

We are currently a team of 4 (including product owner/manager).  We are looking for a back-end developer to join the existing team.  We offer the option of fully remote working or to be based in one of our coworking spaces in Bristol or Frome.  We are a loyal, supportive team with a flat management structure.  You will be treated like an adult, with a high level of autonomy and flexibility in how you work.  The focus is on back-end development but with the scope to extend full-stack.

You will ideally have:

  • Some level of proficiency in Ruby on Rails

  • Experience of an international SaaS product

  • Good understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript (possibly React)

  • Some understanding of database theory with experience of MySQL an advantage

  • Experience of working in a structured way using an agile methodology

  • Experience of integrating with external API’s

We are looking for somebody who:

  • Wants to work in a single product company where they can really get stuck in

  • Has excellent problem-solving skills

  • Exhibits a desire to continually learn and develop their skills

  • Cares about and is proud of the work that they produce

  • Enjoys working in a team, but is independent and self-motivated

  • Understands that the way they do things affects the rest of their team

  • Demonstrates good communication skills

  • Is open to review of their code and is happy to peer review others code

  • Is enthusiastic, positive, loyal and hard-working

In return, we’ll give you:

  • A full-time role in a dynamic, ambitious company

  • £30,000-£45,000 depending on level and experience

  • Flexible working arrangements (including Bristol, Frome, home or fully remote)

  • Fully flexible working hours

  • Unrestricted holiday (subject to reasonable request)

  • Company Macbook

  • Continuous Professional Development courses paid by us

  • Enrolment in company pension scheme

  • Excellent long-term prospects and stability

If this role and this way of thinking appeals to you we'd love to hear from you.  Fill out the form below and we’ll be in touch
